Dovedale

Had a great 40th Birthday hiking around Dovedale. Got out of the valley bottom for the first time and explored the surrounding countryside a bit. Was amazed by the views (this one is looking towards a hill called Thorpe Cloud - what a great name for a hill!). Wandered from Milldale over to Ilam...very relaxed exploring - with plenty of stoppes for cups of tea - well I am forty now.

Cambridge "Sailing" Club

Went for our first sail at Cambridge Sailing Club...it was interesting being on such a narrow body of water, with the wind vearing through 180 degrees! After safely returning to land, another member kindly let us have a go in one of his canoes.

Race for Life, Cambridge

It was hot, but the girls did well, getting round the 5km course in about 48 minutes. Thanks for all the sponsorship, over £100 is going to Cancer Research.

Chucks

The latest additions of the family arrived in a hurry last night. The plan was to pick them up today (Sunday) but after finishing getting the coop ready yesterday, we phoned to farmer (http://www.cambridgepoultry.co.uk/poultryforsale.htm) only to find he was out on Sunday...but kindly, he agreed to let us come over that evening, so the pressure cooker was yanked off the stove and we all piled into the car.

We got:

A Goldline called Goldie

A Speckledy called Nando,

A White Sussex, called Kentucky,

and

A Nera called Poppy.

(Guess which ones were named by the kids and which were named by the grown ups!)

Anyway, it looks like they are settling in well, the dogs are now leaving them alone (after a few squirts of the water pistol), but no eggs yet!!
